  1. Welcome to the Walnut Creek CDROM Toolkit for Linux CDROM, Disc Two
  2.  
  3. This CDROM is actually a pair of CDROMs. The first disc contains
  4. the Slackware Linux distribution, the Slackware sources, contents
  5. of the tsx-11 Linux archive, and "je", a package of extensions
  6. to linux so that it can deal with Japanese.
  7.  
  8. This second disk contains the contents of the sunsite Linux archive.
  9.

  11. In order to install the Slackware Linux distribution onto your system,
  12. look at the file slackware/INSTALL.TXT. (From MS-DOS it is
  13. \SLACKWA0\INSTALL.TXT.) Wherever the documentation references
  14. something in /pub/Linux on sunsite.unc.edu, those files can be found
  15. on the second CD, in in the "sunsite" directory.

  17. Because MS-DOS can't handle long filenames, some of the filenames
  18. when accessed using MS-DOS will be different. The files 00_TRANS.TBL
  19. describe the mappings.  In particular, the directories needed for the
  20. installation which look different are:

  22. slackware               SLACKWA0
  23. bootdsks.12             BOOTDSK0      
  24. bootdsks.144            BOOTDSK1
  25. rootdsks.12             ROOTDSK0
  26. rootdsks.144            ROOTDSK1

  28. When the installation program asks you where the source media is,
  29. choose "from CDROM", and for the directory containing the slackware
  30. installation choose "Custom" and then slackware/slakware.

  37. Disc 1:
  38.  
  39. A) slackware            Slackware Linux package.  This is a complete
  40.    SLACKWA0             Unix like system containing everything you
  41.                         expect in a commericial package and more.
  42.  
  43. B) slackware_source     Slackware Linux sources. These are the complete
  44.    SLACKWA1             sources used to build the Slackware Linux
  45.                         package.
  46.  
  47. C) je                   Japanese Extensions.  Adds Japanese language
  48.    JE                   capability to your Linux system.
  49.  
  50. D) tsx-11               TSX-11. Numerous addon utilities for Linux.
  51.    TSX_11

  53. E) sunsite/GCC          The GCC directory from the sunsite archive.
  54.    SUNSITE\GCC          This directory was  placed on the first disc
  55.                         because there wasn't enough space on the second
  56.                         disc to fit the entire sunsite archive.

  58. Disc 2:
  59.  
  60. A) sunsite              The sunsite Linux archive. A large repository
  61.    SUNSITE              of products for Linux.  Existing Linux users can
  62.                         find the latest gcc compilers, c libraries, and
  63.                         X windows packages to upgrade their systems.

  65. B) misc            Miscellaneous utilities and files from the
  66.    MISC                 ftp.cdrom.com ftp site which don't fit anyplace
  67.                         else.
